Trainer Development
Learn the work, practice it, and develop under human instruction.
RIOS Trainer Development is the trainer-training school: the path for people learning professional canine training and developing their practice. Supervised Field Lab and partner-venue residencies can extend that development when the relevant program, welfare and instructor gates are in place. Opening a RIOS location remains a separate path for people who are already professional trainers.
How development works
These are properties of the RIOS trainer-development record itself -- the system a trainee is assessed through -- not marketing. Every one is enforced in the platform today.
Competency, not a calendar
Progression is a sequence of named competencies, each with its own prerequisites.
A trainee advances by demonstrating the work, not by time served.
Demonstrate, then repeat
Each competency carries a documented lesson plan, instructor demonstrations, and repetition targets.
Muscle memory and judgement are built through supervised reps, not lectures.
A human signs off
A qualified instructor assesses and signs off every competency. A trainee cannot pass themselves.
The instructor records the evidence, any plan adjustment and why, and the immediate and later outcome.
An honest, permanent record
Assessments are append-only: a correction adds a linked entry and keeps the original visible.
The result is a longitudinal account of how a trainer actually developed, not a single certificate date.
What is not published yet
The school is being established. A complete public curriculum, a term schedule, tuition, an admissions process, a formal credential, and a named instructor roster are not published here -- and are not invented on this page.
Applying to open a RIOS location is a separate business-recruitment process for existing professionals; it is not trainer-school enrollment, a trainer qualification, or an instructor endorsement.
